Peppol, explained plainly.

Everything you need to know about the network, the Belgian mandate and getting connected.

The basics

What is Peppol?

Peppol is a network and a set of standards for exchanging structured electronic documents, such as invoices, between registered organisations. Every participant connects through a certified Access Point.

What is a Peppol Access Point?

A certified service provider that connects your business to the network. It validates, sends and receives documents on your behalf. Invocit operates its own Access Point.

What is a Peppol ID?

Your address on the network, usually based on your company or VAT number. Invoices sent to your Peppol ID are routed to your Access Point.

How is an e-invoice different from a PDF?

A PDF has to be read and typed in by a person. A Peppol e-invoice is structured data (UBL) that the receiver’s software can process automatically.

The Belgian mandate

Who has to use e-invoicing in Belgium?

Since 1 January 2026, VAT-registered businesses in Belgium exchange B2B invoices as structured e-invoices, in the Peppol BIS 3.0 format.

Do I need to receive e-invoices too?

Yes. Being able to receive structured invoices matters as much as sending them. Invocit gives you an inbox for incoming e-invoices on every plan.

Is a PDF by email still enough?

For B2B invoices covered by the mandate, a PDF by email does not meet the requirement. Check specific situations with your accountant.

Getting connected

How do I register for Peppol?

Create your Invocit account, add your company details and complete the Peppol registration in the app. You can then send and receive straight away.

Can I keep my accounting or ERP software?

Yes. Invocit connects with Exact Online, Octopus, Horus Office and WinBooks, and any other system can use our API and webhooks.

Can one company have several Peppol IDs?

Yes. Invocit supports multiple Peppol identities in one environment, which suits groups and accounting firms.

Sending & receiving

What if my customer is not on Peppol?

Invocit sends the same invoice by email instead. You choose the channel per invoice, within one workflow.

How do I know an invoice was delivered?

Every invoice shows its status, from submission to delivery. If something fails, you see whether your team can fix it or it needs handling in the network.

Which formats are supported?

UBL and EN 16931 for Peppol, plus national formats such as XRechnung (Germany), SDI (Italy) and KSeF (Poland).

Invocit & pricing

Which plan includes Peppol?

Sending and receiving via Peppol is included in the Standard plan (€10 per month) and the Pro plan (€15 per month).

Is my data secure?

Invocit is ISO 27001 certified. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, isolated per company and every action is recorded in an audit trail.

Still have a question?

Our team is happy to help with Peppol registration, integrations or anything specific to your business.
